No grades, no matric?
What is the difference between Grades E, D, and C?
How long does it take to complete the Grades EDC course?
If you’re new to the security industry, the best place to begin is with Grades E, D, and C – and yes, even without matric. EDC training qualifies you for entry-level positions and is a necessary step before progressing to higher grades like B or A.
Grade E focuses on basic security duties like observing and reporting. Grade D introduces access control and managing entry points. Grade C includes patrols, incident reporting, and limited supervision. Completing all three prepares you for a wide range of basic to mid-level security roles.
EDC combined takes 12 business days to complete training and write exams.
Can I get a job with only Grade E?

Is Ukhosi PSIRA compliant and why is it important?
You may be able to find limited entry-level opportunities with Grade E alone. However, most employers prefer candidates who have completed Grades E, D, and C together, as it allows more flexibility in placement and shows commitment to the profession.
All you need in order to enroll at Ukhosi – Security Academy is your South African ID + payment.
We are 100% PSIRA compliant. PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority) is the official body that regulates the security industry in South Africa. Once you’ve completed your training, you must register with PSIRA to legally work as a security officer.
